Treks paced the way a guide would pace them.

Small groups, rest days where the altitude asks for them, and fixed departures with the seats left shown honestly. From a two-room office in Thamel.

Why a chautari चौतारी

Every few hours on a Nepali trail you reach a chautari: a stone platform built at exactly the height of a porter's load, under a pipal or banyan tree. You set the weight down without bending, drink some water, and walk on.

We named the company after them because that rhythm is the whole method. Walk, rest, look up. Nobody reaches Base Camp faster by skipping the rests.

  1. Rest days are in the plan, not an extra

Every high trek sleeps twice at the places where bodies need it. Altitude sickness is the usual reason treks fail, and pace is the cure.

  2. Twelve people at most

Small enough for one guide to know how everyone slept, and for teahouses to have room for us in October.

  3. Guides who own the company

Our three founders walked these trails for other agencies for fifteen years. Now the margin stays with the people carrying the responsibility.
